Sapphire ring
A 2.1 ct sapphire and 1.1 ct small demantoids set in a solid gold ring.
Natural, untreated yellow sapphires with blue zonings such as this one are hardly ever to be found on today’s market. Its free flowing, indefinable colour transitions turn this jewel into a true natural spectacle you will never tire of looking at. The small demantoids, set in linear form, create a natural contradiction to its porous, organic nature – and it is this contrasting shapely appeal that makes this piece of jewellery a harmonious work of art.

Demantoid
Demantoid is derived from the old German word “demant” meaning “diamond like”. Demantoids display a wide variety of green tones ranging from light green to yellowish green all the way through to a deep emerald green. One characteristic of this gemstone is its unmistakable sparkle which can even surpass that of diamond.
The fiery sparkle of gemstones is what is known as the “dispersion” of incoming light. What happens in dispersion in gems is that the various colour components of light are split up. When a demantoid is under direct light it splits the white light into a dazzling sparkling array of colour covering orange, red, yellow, green, and blue as well as even violet.
This unique gemstone was first discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in 1855.
Today, high quality demantoids are extremely rare and so any pieces of jewellery displaying such gems is indeed a really special piece.
