Rhodolite
Rhodolite is the most important member of the pyrope – almandine group of minerals (see also Garnet).
It gets its name from the Greek for rose, namely “rhodos” and stone “lithos”.
Its range of colour goes from a rich red through to an intense red-violet tint.
The first deposits that were found were from the Cowee Valley in North Carolina in 1890 and caused a great sensation. Because of their very intensive colour, these gemstones possess amazing depth and incredible presence.
