Gaia Silber 1.008
A violet 1.1 ct amethyst set in a matt white pendant.
The jewel is like a small secret glittering from its hiding place in the porous surface. The pendant looks like a blossoming flower, the inner petals of which have not yet been revealed.
Amethyst
The amethyst is a member of the quartz family and is a very popular gem. Its name is derived from the Greek term “Amethystos” which means “to counteract inebriation”. Because of this feature the amethyst has often been used against the effects of drunkenness.
The amethyst’s colour spectrum ranges from a pale lilac to an intensive violet hue depending on the geographical origin of the gemstone. These gemstones are often pervaded with patterned streaks of light and dark colour and it is precisely this irregularity that gives this stone its individuality and charisma.
Heat has a strong influence on the stone. At temperatures between 450°C and 750°C the amethyst changes colour allowing a number of varieties to be created ranging from pale yellow, reddish brown, greenish yellow and some even colourless. Some stones can lose their colour and pale if subject to long periods of strong sunshine which is why these gemstones should be kept out of direct sunlight
